Chapter One: Introduction
1.1 Background of the Study
Party politics in Nigeria significantly shapes local political culture, influencing how communities engage with political institutions and the way political processes are conducted at the grassroots level. Birnin Kebbi LGA in Kebbi State presents a unique environment for understanding the interaction between party politics and local political culture. The dominance of major political parties in this region has contributed to the development of a political culture characterized by strong party loyalty, patronage, and a focus on party ideologies (Aminu & Suleiman, 2023).
